SAVE Man's Best Friend from the Dog Meat Trade - Say YES to House Bill 2991 Petition


This is the petition started by a friend of mine to raise the penalty of EATING and TRADING Dog Meat. We have a current law against this crime but violators are only fined a mere 5k!! Needless to say, despite efforts done by local government units and environmental and animal welfare organizations alike, this has not discouraged or even lessened the number of dog meat trade violators. I say we need to be able to prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law like murderers and kidnappers!

We need to reach at least 50,000 signatures (or more) by JUNE 30, 2007 for it to even be addressed and taken seriously by the Philippine Congress on JULY 2007. As i type this we have less than 16,000 signatures!!!!! :(

Please go to this site, sign the petition and send this link to ALL your friends and get them to sign too, whether they live here or abroad, we need all the support we can get :) I suggest also posting a link to this in your internet sites (friendster, blogs, right here at multiply, YM, MSN, etc)

*If you guys can upload a photo with your petition which is called a 'photition' then that would be more effective as it shows that there is a 'real' person behind the signature. If not, just your signature is more than enough :)

We need to stop being known as one of the biggest exporters of dog meat worldwide, and start being known as a country that is civilized and cares for its creatures and domesticated pets. Spread the word and let's all stop this monstrous trade together!!!!

This is a wonderful organization that i am a member of and volunteer for. Everyday they help innumerable unwanted, unloved and abused animals get a fighting chance at a better life by rehabilitating them and then rehoming them through their adoption process. Check out their website, you may want to be a volunteer and make this cause yours too, and adopt the four legged love of your life as well from their shelter... you never know. :)
