We have a current law against this crime but violators are only fined a mere 5k!! Needless to say, despite efforts done by local government units and environmental and animal welfare organizations alike, this has not discouraged or even lessened the number of dog meat trade violators. I say we need to be able to prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law like murderers and kidnappers! We need to reach at least 50,000 signatures (or more) by JUNE 30, 2007 for it to even be addressed and taken seriously by the Philippine Congress on JULY 2007.
